Read-aloud story

Kapi the big capybara lay on the soft moss by the warm pond with a sleepy smile. Hop, the tiny blue frog, bounced on his round back. Boing, boing! Then a shy giggle came from the left. Hop stopped and tilted his head.

Behind the hollow log hid Lila, a shy little bunny. Hop bounded over with big loud hops and waved both arms. Lila's eyes went wide. Squeak! She ducked down. Hop climbed on the log and looked behind it. Nobody! Lila peeked out behind his back, but when he turned around, she giggled and hid again. Hop scratched his head.

Kapi showed Hop a better way. Slow and soft, he tiptoed on his big paws and nudged a little yellow flower to Hop. Hop copied him. He tiptoed to the log, laid the flower down, and sat quietly.

Slowly, Lila's ears rose, then her big shiny eyes. Hop covered his eyes and opened them. Peekaboo! Lila giggled, covered her eyes, and opened them. Peekaboo! Then she tucked the flower in her pink bow and gave Hop a gentle nose boop.

Later, big Kapi hid behind the little log too. But his round back and the tangerine stuck up high! Kapi lifted his head over the log. Peekaboo! Hop laughed, then snuggled against Kapi's cheek, and both closed their eyes, smiling.
